Steuben County Habitat for Humanity and Thrivent Financial are coming together with Corning’s Southside Neighborhood Association for Building on Faith Week 2017. Thrivent members will work alongside local Habitat affiliate volunteers in construction and non-construction activities to impact housing needs. Events will begin on Sept. 16th at 1st Street between State St. and Walnut St. Volunteers are needed from 9:00 AM to noon, and from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
This week is an opportunity for Steuben County residents, churches and faith communities to use hearts and hands to serve their neighbors. Close to 100 volunteers are expected to attend the local events. These will include a number of tasks from making improvements to the neighborhood to helping coordinate volunteer activities. They are designed so that anyone who wants to improve a place to call home can participate. A free T-shirt and lunch will be provided to our volunteers. Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to participate!
Non-construction tasks include:
- Coordinating volunteers
- Material distribution
- Assist at the ReStore
- Food service
- Other tasks as needed
