The Chemung County and Steuben County chapters of Habitat for Humanity are proud to announce that we are working together to improve living conditions for Elderly homeowners. Residents of those counties aged 60 and over who live in substandard conditions, but are unable to make or afford the needed repairs themselves, can apply now for assistance.
The funding for this project comes from the RESTORE [Residential Emergency Services to Offer (Home) Repairs to the Elderly] Grant, and is made available through the New York State Housing Trust Fund Corporation. The grant covers emergency situations such as leaking pipes, broken toilets or bathtubs, unsafe flooring support, faulty electrical systems, water heater or furnace failure, or safety and accessibility issues. Similar issues are also considered if they are deemed to be a threat to someone’s life, health, or safety.
Residents of Chemung and Steuben Counties who are 60 years or older, who own the home they live in, and who meet certain income criteria based on their county of residence are eligible to receive repairs. For more information, residents of Chemung County can contact Habitat for Humanity at 607-734-1361, or email firstname.lastname@example.org; for Steuben County residents, please call 607-936-4444, or email email@example.com
