We are proud to offer two different opportunities for local families to partner with Steuben County Habitat for Humanity. (Certain income criteria apply to our programs; please contact us here if you need more information.)

Homebuyer Program
Our traditional program for building new homes or rehabilitating existing homes for partner families. Participants must be willing to take on an affordable mortgage, take courses on homeownership and financial literacy, and perform “sweat equity” by volunteering at the work site, the ReStore, and wherever needed (accommodations can be made in certain circumstances).

Critical Repairs Program
Our Critical Repairs program is available for current homeowners in Steuben County with emergency needs, or who require substantial home upgrades to accommodate disabilities or other issues of accessibility. This program addresses problems that affect the immediate safety, security, and habitability of the home for any family member, including issues with structural defects, heating, water and plumbing, and electrical malfunctions.
