Thrivent Building on Faith – Steuben County Habitat for Humanity and Thrivent Financial are coming together with Corning’s Southside Neighborhood Association for Building on Faith Week 2017. Thrivent members will work alongside local Habitat affiliate volunteers in construction and non-construction activities to impact housing needs. Events will begin on Sept. 16th at 1st Street between State St. and Walnut St. Volunteers are needed from 9:00 AM to noon, and from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
This week is an opportunity for Steuben County residents, churches and faith communities to use hearts and hands to serve their neighbors. Close to 100 volunteers are expected to attend the local events. These will include a number of tasks from making improvements to the neighborhood to helping coordinate volunteer activities. They are designed so that anyone who wants to improve a place to call home can participate. A free T-shirt and lunch will be provided to our volunteers. Please contact us at email@example.com if you would like to participate!
Non-construction tasks include:
- Coordinating volunteers
- Material distribution
- Assist at the ReStore
- Food service
- Other tasks as needed
Home Construction – Our mission is to build homes, community, and hope in Steuben County, and Home Construction is our primary focus. We build and rehabilitate homes for deserving families, and we make critical repairs for existing homeowners in our community. If you or your group would like to help us, please contact us here.
Even if you can’t swing a hammer, there are dozens of ways you can help Steuben County Habitat for Humanity!
ReStore – Our Habitat ReStore, located in Corning, sells new and like-new furniture, appliances, household goods, and building materials to raise funds for Steuben County Habitat for Humanity. If you are looking for a regular volunteer opportunity, our ReStore would be the perfect place to serve! We have a variety of opportunities to serve, both retail and non-retail. From customer service to donation sorting to office work, the ReStore is a great way to serve in a non-construction capacity. For more information, please contact us here.
Kids’ Day event – We’re having a Kids’ Day at Denison Park on Saturday, August 26th, from 11AM to 3PM, and we need your help in making it a success. We need volunteers to help distribute school supplies, serve food and drinks, and help with kids games. If you’d like to help out that day, please contact us here.
Thrivent Building on Faith – We’re looking for church members and congregations to come support our annual Building on Faith week starting Sept. 10th. Building on Faith Week, sponsored and supported by Thrivent, is bringing neighbours together to help improve communities all across the country, and Steuben County Habitat for Humanity is proud to be a part of it. For more information on how you or your congregation can help, please contact us here.
